THE MISSION OF BOOST
Boost is a non-profit foundation dedicated to sustained, reciprocal giving. By allocating
donated funds to charities that nourish character building and enable at-risk youth
to contribute to society, our local and global communities benefit.
BOOST: THE CONCEPT
Greg Nared, a former Nike employee, conceptualized Boost after learning of the devastation
caused by the December ’04 tsunami that hit Southeastern Asia. Through his work
with Nike, Greg has developed a lasting and meaningful friendship with professional
golfer Tiger Woods and his family. Tiger’s mom Tida is Thai, personalizing Greg’s
desire to help with tsunami relief.
Since then, Greg has leveraged his professional and peer resources to develop Boost
to include programs that support youth-focused, non-profit organizations. These
relationships have led to the creation of a diverse board of directors made up of
influential community leaders sharing the common goals of the foundation’s mission.
MOVING BOOST FORWARD
A board of caring, passionate and dedicated professionals sets direction for Boost.
Each member of the board is a volunteer and brings his or her specific skill set
to support the foundation’s goals. In addition to donating their time, each board
member has pledged $1,000 to help in the start-up and fundraising efforts of the
organization.
Additionally, Boost has scheduled specific fundraising events including Catwalk,
an annual New York-style fashion show, and a series of annual, exclusive golf tournaments.
These golf events will take place at exclusive golf courses in Oregon, California,
Arizona and Hawaii and will feature participation by several professional athletes
and celebrities.
REALIZING THE VISION
By partnering with organizations designed to help at-risk youth on a daily basis,
such as Self Enhancement Inc. (SEI) and Friends of the Children, Boost will recognize
and reward kids aged 13-18 by funding programs designed to help these kids realize
the individual, positive impact they can have in their local communities.
Through continued fundraising activities, Boost is also creating an endowment fund
to offer college scholarships. These university scholarships will be available to
youth who have participated in a program funded by Boost. This opportunity enables
the youth to improve their lives through continuing education.
WE NEED YOUR HELP
Although our resources are growing, and many program-related materials and costs
will be donated in-kind, we are in need of ‘grass roots’ financial support to help
enhance ongoing Boost fundraising efforts and offset start-up costs. Boost has no
employees or office space and the board members are all volunteers, so overhead
is extremely limited. Virtually ALL monies donated go directly to support our mission
and programs.
